yaozh.com 2023-03-17

The company announced that it has renewed its joint development cooperation agreement with Scripps Research Institute's Calibr Institute to develop a new targeted drug, AK0705, for the treatment of respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Under the terms of the agreement, Agco will lead the development of AK0705 and Calibr will provide expertise to co-guide the project. The existing collaboration has identified AK0705 as a preclinical drug candidate (PCC), which is expected to commence clinical studies in 2024 upon completion of the next phase of preclinical development.

"We are pleased to continue working hand-in-hand with Calibr to advance the development of AK0705." Said Dr. Wu Zheng, Chairman and CEO of Aike Baifa. "We have made great progress in our collaborative research, and I am confident that we will fully explore the potential clinical value of AK0705 to provide a highly effective first-of-its-kind treatment for respiratory diseases with significant unmet clinical need, such as COPD."

"Treatment options and options for respiratory diseases caused by chronic inflammation are very limited, and the hundreds of millions of people around the world who suffer from respiratory diseases urgently need new treatments," "Through innovative chemical research, AK0705 has the potential to be a new targeted drug for a variety of respiratory diseases," said Dr. PeterSchultz, chairman and CEO of Scripps Research Institute and Calibr. Ako has been an outstanding partner and we look forward to moving this new drug into clinical trials as soon as possible."
