Newcastle Disease has hit Moldova

According to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), on 17 March 2023, the State Food Safety Authority of the Republic of Moldova reported to WOAH an outbreak of Newcastle disease in Moldova.

The outbreak occurred in Chisinau City and was confirmed on 15 March 2023. The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain. Clinical, autopsy and laboratory tests revealed 73 birds suspected to be infected, of which 23 became ill and died, and 50 were killed and disposed of.

As the outbreak continues, the National Food Safety Authority of the Republic of Moldova will submit weekly follow-up reports.
