ExxonMobil successfully launches Beaumont refinery expansion project
ExxonMobil announced the successful start of its Beaumont refinery expansion project, which will add 250,000 barrels per day of capacity to one of the largest refinery and petrochemical plants on the U.S. Gulf Coast. The largest refinery expansion in more than a decade, backed by the company's growing crude oil production in the Permian Basin, will help meet growing demand for affordable, reliable energy.
Beaumont's additional production increases its total processing capacity to more than 630,000 barrels per day, making it one of the largest refineries in the United States.
The refinery is connected to pipelines operated by ExxonMobil in the U.S. Permian Basin, giving the company a significant strategic advantage. Permian crude is processed at the Beaumont refinery, where the company makes finished products including diesel, gasoline and jet fuel. With the completion of the Wink to Webster and Beaumont pipelines, new crude units will also be well-positioned to further utilize cracked crude from the Delaware Basin.
Construction on the Beaumont extension began in 2019 with 1,700 contractors involved.
