BASF expands production facility in Daya Bay

Recently, BASF announced that it plans to build a second production line at BASF Paper Chemicals (Huizhou) Co., Ltd. at the BASF Huizhou Daya Bay Base in Guangdong Province to expand the company's polymer dispersion production capacity. The new production line is scheduled to be operational in 2024.

According to BASF, as the world's leading dispersion manufacturer, the company continues to invest in the fast-growing Asian market. BASF Huizhou Daya Bay Base has obvious geographical advantages and is close to key customers in South China. The base produces a variety of high-performance acrylic and styrene-butadiene dispersion products, which are suitable for industries such as coatings, construction, adhesives, paper, textiles and packaging, as well as new markets such as lithium-ion batteries.

Liu Shuai, Director of BASF's Dispersions business in Greater China, said: "This expansion is another key milestone in the development of BASF's polymer dispersion business in Greater China. Innovative polymer dispersions are crucial to customers' success in their markets. It is very important. The new capacity will provide flexibility and sustainable growth for customers, especially in the South China market.”

Bir Darbar Mehta, Senior Vice President Dispersions Asia Pacific, BASF, added: “Through our global and Asia Pacific R&D centers, we are eager to provide our customers with more sustainable innovative products. For example, the Daya Bay site produces a new generation of dispersant products , such as BASF's award-winning product - Acronal PLUS 7679. It combines our latest odor-reducing AOR technology to reduce the odor of interior wall paint and set a new benchmark for interior wall paint."

The BASF Dispersions Division operates 3 production bases in China, and the Daya Bay base in Huizhou started operations in 2012. Production of carboxylated styrene-butadiene latex and acrylic dispersions for the paper industry.
