Clothing Brand, Alcis, to Use Recycled Polyester in Apparel

Chemical Weekly 2018-07-06

Alcis, a performance wear brand promoted by Paragon Apparels, said that it will manufacture 50% of its apparel from recycled polyester, which is derived from plastic waste.

Alcis has been making T-shirts from waste plastic bottles for the past two years called ‘Wonder Tee’. Each T-shirt uses about eight plastic bottles, the company said in a statement.

Mr. Roshan Baid, Managing Director of Alcis Sports, claims that this move will help reduce carbon emission by over 54%, limit energy consumption by 50% and save about 27 litres of water per product.
