Syngenta and Unium Bioscience have teamed up to promote NUELLO® iN in northwest Europe
Syngenta's biologics department and Unium Bioscience have announced a partnership to bring NUELLO®iN a breakthrough biological seed treatment solution to farmers in northwestern Europe.
NUELLO® iN can improve plants' ability to convert and use nitrogen from the atmosphere, reducing nitrogen use by more than 10%, thereby reducing the environmental impact of agriculture, increasing crop yields, promoting plant and soil health, and providing farmers with greater flexibility in nitrogen management. NUELLO® iN works by combining strains produced by Intrinsyx Bio with Unium's prebiotics and converting nitrogen that is freely available in the environment into a form available to crops within the plant.
As a result of this collaboration, Syngenta has obtained exclusive rights to NUELLO® iN products and has become the exclusive distributor of Unium's TIROS® biological seed primer in Northwest Europe. The product portfolio already established iN the UK will continue to be supplied under the NUELLO® iN brand. The partnership is Syngenta's first step into biofertilizers for seeds, strengthening Syngenta's market presence in northwest Europe, where it has already introduced biofertilizers for leaves, such as VIXERAN®.
Jonathan Halstead, head of North West Europe and general manager of Syngenta UK, said: "Syngenta encourages sustainable farming practices and helps growers reduce their carbon footprint while increasing yields. We are excited to enter into a long-term relationship with Unium, leveraging Unium's innovative power to bring unique, sustainable biological solutions to growers in northwest Europe."
John Haywood, Unium Director, said: "At a time when nitrogen fertilizer use and sustainability are high on the growers' list of priorities, we are proud to introduce more options and flexibility in nitrogen fertilizer management. Building on Syngenta's strong track record of biologics collaboration and investment, this partnership will provide a more efficient and sustainable way to grow healthy, high-yielding crops."
Syngenta will offer NUELLO® iN the UK in the coming months, with commercial distribution in Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands by 2024.
