New ingredients for reducing sugar! BENEO launches new ingredient Beneo-scL85

On May 23rd, BENEO announced the expansion of its product portfolio through the launch of Beneo-scL85 (a short chain oligofructose scFOS), which will provide customers with a wider range of sugar substitutes and dietary fiber rich foods.

What is scFOS?

ScFOS is a fiber extracted from beet sugar, which has a mild sweetness, good solubility, and natural properties, helping to improve taste and texture, and may achieve swelling effects in applications such as baking, dairy products, and grains. This new ingredient is produced in specialized production facilities in Germany and is available for BENEO's global customers to purchase syrup.

The use of scFOS to replace sugar while adding dietary fiber, in turn, improves the nutritional status of the product, enabling manufacturers to achieve higher scores in packaging front nutrition labeling systems worldwide, such as NutriScore in Europe.

Reducing Sugar Market Trend

As of now, reducing sugar has become an important area of consumer concern. New data shows that globally, more than half of consumers (57%) say that low sugar statements will affect their purchasing decisions.

Therefore, BENEO serves the trend of reducing sugar by adding scFOS to its product portfolio and developing or reformulating new products. Beneo-scL85 has expanded the range of ingredients, meaning that manufacturers have more varieties and greater potential to provide products with lower sugar content to meet high demand.
