The United States may ban these 5 food additives, including titanium dioxide

The California legislature has issued the California AB 418 Act, aimed at eliminating harmful chemicals in food. The current law stipulates the safety supervision of food products, including the supervision of adulterated and falsely labeled food, wholesale food, and retail food.

The bill stipulates that starting from January 1st, 2025, individuals or entities shall not manufacture, sell, deliver, distribute, hold or offer to sell food containing any of the following substances in commerce:

The bill will come into effect on January 1st, 2025, prohibiting anyone or entity from manufacturing, selling, delivering, distributing, holding, or commercially selling food products containing any designated substance, including titanium dioxide and red dye 3. Those who violate the regulations will be considered illegal and will be sued by the Ministry of Justice, city lawyers, county lawyers, or district prosecutors. The fine for the first violation will not exceed $5000, and the fine for each violation will not exceed $10000.

According to recent regulations, on May 3rd, 2023, the US FDA is soliciting opinions on the prohibition of the use of titanium dioxide in food, with a deadline of July 3rd, 2023.
