AMVAC®GreenSolutions™ launches Vintec® Biocide

 AMVAC®GreenSolutions™ recently launched Vintec®, a biocide for almonds. Tests of the product on apricot stem blight confirmed that Vintec can control the pathogens associated with the disease with comparable or better results than conventional pesticides.

Vintec, a natural innovation derived from Trichoderma atroviride SC1 strain, has entered the California market. Vintec should be applied within 24 hours of the pruning of the plant to ensure the best results on full coverage of the pruning wound.

The University of California, Davis recently published data from a trial that collected results over six years comparing traditional fungicides, ointments, sealants, and coatings to the biocontrol product Vintec. "We are excited by the results of the apricot stem blight biocontrol study," said Florent Trouillas, a specialist at the Agricultural Research and Extension Center at Kearney, University of California, Davis. "Vintec has long-lasting activity and is good at protecting pruned wounds."

Vintec is also registered for use in grapes and has been widely used in grape production throughout Europe to combat disease in grape trunks.
