Ascenza launched Asbelto Pro, a fungicide in Brazil that effectively controls on Phytophthora infestans
Ascenza, a Portuguese multinational company, recently revealed that it will launch Asbelto Pro, a fungicide. The fungicide is composed of two active ingredients, Propamocarb hydrochloride and Dimethomorph.
According to Ascenza, Asbelto Pro has strong endogenous properties that can adequately protect new plant tissue after the crop has grown. The mechanism of action of Asbelto Pro is to destroy Oomycetes fungi, with preventive, therapeutic and anti-spore formation activities, mainly for the prevention and control of Phytophthora infestans that wreaks havoc on potato and tomato crops.
The agronomic engineer and marketing and development specialist explained that Asbelto Pro combines two active ingredients that have previously been used separately, and this is the first time that the product is presented in the form of a mixture that can be used to manage diseases when environmental conditions are very favorable. In addition to the respective efficacy of the two active ingredients, due to both different modes of action, complementary mechanisms of action, help to control and reduce the emergence of resistant organisms, and easy to handle and apply.
The expert added that despite extensive research, Phytophthora infestans is still a problem that farmers find difficult to control. This new fungicide has a strong control ability, even under the conditions conducive to the occurrence of Phytophthora infestans, it can effectively control the reproduction of bacteria. Susceptible or disease-resistant crop varieties and low temperature and high humidity environments are very conducive to the occurrence of diseases.
Phytophthora infestans is caused by the fungelike microorganism Phytophthora infestans. It spreads quickly and is highly destructive. It can occur at any stage of crop growth and seriously affect leaves, stems, petioles and tubers. Studies have shown that the disease can cause total loss of production in just a few days.
Researchers at the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Hawaii found that in the process of Phytophthora infestans, the leaves will appear irregular light green and gray spots at the beginning, and in the cold and wet environment, the spots rapidly expand to form large black spots, and spread to the entire leaf, stem and plant itself. In addition, tuber dry rot can also occur, that is, a slightly dented area with a purplish-brown skin. On young tubers, the infected site is dark reddish-brown, 5 to 15 mm deep; On the stored tubers, the infected sites were sunken, dry and light brown. But these parts are indistinguishable from healthy tissue, and often, fungi and bacteria make a second invasion, and the whole tuber rots
