Revised Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Food: Ensuring Safety and Compliance
On December 20, 2023, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare issued Health and Sanitation Notice No. 1220, which outlines important revisions concerning maximum residue limits (MRLs) for several pesticides in food. The key highlights of the announcement are as follows:
Revision of MRLs for various pesticide compounds, including Cyphenothrin, in certain food items (as detailed in the table below).
2. Removal of all existing limits for Clostebol and Tribromsalan, two veterinary drugs, from food products.
3. Exemption of Bismuth Subnitrate from the establishment of MRLs in food.
The notice will take effect immediately upon publication. The revised MRLs for compounds like Cyphenothrin will become effective one year after the date of publication.
