Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), an annual herbaceous dicotyledonous plant of the Solanaceae family, is the fourth largest food crop in the world and can be used as a vegetable. It has a planting history of more than 450 years in China and is the fourth largest staple food crop in China (after corn, paddy and wheat).
According to incomplete statistics, there are only 215 kinds of common diseases and pests in potatoes in China (excluding non-infectious diseases and rats), including 36 diseases, 115 pests and 64 weeds.
After inquiry, there are 668 potato pesticide registered products in the effective period in China, of which 377 are single doses and 291 are mixed. In 2023, 19 new potato pesticides were registered, and the pesticide categories were mainly fungicides.
In 2023, 19 new pesticide products were registered for potatoes, involving 8 formulations, the largest number of registered SC, followed by GR, SL, etc.
Among the 19 pesticide products newly registered for potato in 2023, the registered number of active ingredients is not much different, the registered number of Dimethomorph, Choline chloride, Fludioxonil and Fluopicolide are 3, the registered number of Azoxystrobin and metalaxyl-M are 2, and the registered number of other ingredients is only 1.
In terms of control objects, among the 19 pesticide products newly registered for potato in 2023, the largest number of control object registration is 7 for late blight, and 4 for the control of black scurf products.
