Evonik, a leading specialty chemicals company, has announced the successful relocation and expansion of its precious metal powder catalyst factory in Shanghai, China. The new facility is situated within the Evonik Multiple User Site China (MUSC) in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park and is set to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2023. With the completion of the expansion, Evonik's precious metal catalyst production capacity in China will double.
Precious metal powder catalysts find wide application in industrial chemicals, life sciences, and fine chemical industries. Evonik promotes and sells these catalysts under the brand name Noblyst® P.
Dr. Lorenza Sartorelli, Global Head of Production Technology for Evonik's Catalysts business line, stated, "China is one of the most significant markets for precious metal powder catalysts globally. With this capacity expansion, we will be able to supply high-quality products locally and meet the growing market demand in sectors such as pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Catalysts play a crucial role in creating higher value for our customers across various industrial domains."
The new factory not only complies with international safety and quality standards but also builds upon Evonik's years of expertise in catalyst technology. It optimizes the production of customized products and further enhances process standards, resulting in improved product quality and stability for customers.
With the completion of the new facility, Evonik has successfully upgraded its global production network for precious metal catalysts. The company's five factories worldwide now offer a full range of services, including catalyst customization, collaborative development, production, as well as precious metal management and recycling.
This expansion marks an important milestone for Evonik, reinforcing its commitment to serving the growing demand for high-quality and customized precious metal powder catalysts in the Chinese market and beyond.
