BASF Launches Emulsion Portfolio for Architectural Coatings in North America

BASF is the first in North America to launch its Acronal® MB portfolio of emulsion polymers for architectural coatings. These emulsion polymers offer the same quality and performance as existing Acronal® products with the added benefit of a reduced carbon footprint.

BASF's biomass balance approach, certified by REDcert, allows the use of sustainably sourced biofeedstocks to replace the fossil feedstocks needed to make Acronal® products.

Acronal® MB water-based acrylic and styrene-acrylic emulsion polymers are chemically equivalent to fossil-based Acronal® products and require no reformulation. In the architectural coatings industry, most greenhouse gas emissions come from indirect sources along the value chain, including purchased raw materials. By incorporating Acronal® MB acrylic emulsion polymer into architectural coating formulations, BASF enables customers to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of their products.
