Iconic Australian dessert brand Sara Lee enters voluntary administration
Sara Lee, a well-loved Australian dessert brand renowned for its frozen cheesecakes, crumbles, and ice-cream, has initiated voluntary administration. The company has enlisted the services of FTI Consulting to explore options for either selling or restructuring the business, with this transition overseen by the voluntary administrator beginning on October 17.

Sara Lee is best known for its frozen cheesecakes, crumbles and ice-cream
Founded in Lisarow, NSW in 1971, Sara Lee has been delighting Australians with its confectionery offerings for over five decades. Despite the challenging circumstances, the company still maintains a workforce of approximately 200 employees at its New South Wales production facility.
Administrator Vaughan Strawbridge stated that the administration team is collaborating closely with Sara Lee's management and staff to ensure that operations continue smoothly while safeguarding the future of the business. "We are immediately commencing a process to either sell or restructure the business and uphold its longstanding tradition of manufacturing within Australia," Strawbridge asserted.
Anticipating significant interest in the business, Strawbridge added, "We will actively engage with potential buyers and stakeholders to expedite a resolution, securing the company's ongoing operations and providing clarity to its dedicated workforce and loyal customer base."

Sara Lee's delectable products are a common sight in Coles and Woolworths supermarkets throughout Australia, lauding themselves for their commitment to crafting top-quality frozen desserts.
The cash-strapped sweetmaker, founded in New South Wales state’s Lisarow in 1971, was a staple in many kitchens in Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
On Wednesday, administrators from FTI Consulting said they were working with Sara Lee Australia’s management to continue operations while looking for a prospective buyer or to restructure the business.
“Sara Lee is an iconic brand which produces quality Australian made products from its manufacturing facility in Lisarow NSW, where it employs some 200 staff,” administrator Vaughan Strawbridge said in a statement.

At present, the company has not provided any comments regarding the situation.
