Sasol Chemicals will evaluate the effectiveness of Solugen's products, blends and derivatives in its household, personal care and industrial and institutional cleaning surfactant formulations, per the company.

1. Carinex SL (INCI: Not Provided) - This eco-friendly, multifunctional personal care solution provides benefits for scalp and skin care. It boasts attributes such as faster and more complete biodegradability, reduced environmental toxicity, and enhanced foaming properties.

2. Livinex SL (INCI: Not Provided) - A multifunctional surfactant designed to combine performance with care properties for various cleaning solutions.

Previously, Sasol Chemicals had announced a collaboration with Holiferm Limited to develop sophorolipids, a biosurfactant derived from fermentation. These sophorolipids offer a reduced carbon footprint when compared to petroleum or bio-based surfactants.

In addition, Sasol Chemicals has joined forces with Solugen to explore the commercialization of innovative solutions that meet sustainability demands. Sasol Chemicals will assess the effectiveness of Solugen's products, blends, and derivatives in its formulations for household, personal care, and industrial and institutional cleaning surfactants.

Solugen operates its Bioforge facility in Houston, which utilizes a chemienzymatic process to convert plant-derived substances into materials traditionally derived from fossil fuels, all while producing minimal to no emissions and waste. Solugen's process results in overall carbon-negative or carbon-neutral greenhouse gas emissions.

Jonathan Ward, Senior Manager of Strategy and Sustainable Growth for Sasol's Essential Care Chemicals Business Division, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability and its dedication to partnering with others to find innovative solutions for customers.

Gaurab Chakrabarti, CEO of Solugen, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, citing Sasol's commitment to sustainability and their shared strengths in technology, production, and market development as assets for meeting the increasing consumer demand for high-performance, bio-based solutions.
