The recently disclosed financial results for the first three quarters of FY2023, ending in September, revealed a remarkable 10.9% year-on-year surge in net revenue, reaching AED 3.27 billion (US$890.3 million). Net profit also experienced substantial growth, rising by 12.7% to AED 206 million (US$56.1 million). It's worth noting that these results have already factored in the currency crisis impact in Egypt, which, if excluded, would have showcased even more staggering growth at 20.7% for net revenue and 27.3% for net profits.

Agthia attributes a significant portion of this success to the outstanding performance of its snacking segment, which witnessed an impressive 52.2% year-on-year growth in Q3 FY2023. CEO Alan Smith emphasized the strong performance in both domestic and international date markets as a key driver for this growth.

To capitalize on this momentum, Agthia plans to make strategic investments in innovation. Notably, the launch of the Al Foah dates brand, introducing "Freakin Awesome" whole and stuffed dates in the UK and European retail channels, and the development of new formats like stuffed date pouches and biscuits in the UAE are part of the ongoing innovation drive. Other brands under Agthia, including BMB and Abu Auf, have also introduced new products such as premium and value chocolate brands, protein truffles, and spice pouches.

In a bid to further bolster its digital capabilities, Agthia has entered into a partnership with Microsoft. This collaboration aims to accelerate digital transformation, with a specific emphasis on adopting artificial intelligence. The overarching goal is to leverage these technological tools to identify opportunities for market expansion, operational excellence, and commercial success while maintaining a commitment to innovation and sustainable business practices across the FMCG value chain.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Microsoft UAE, the digital transformation will span the entire value chain, from customer service to production, procurement, and employee engagement. Key aspects of this initiative include enhancing consumer experiences through AI, creating smart digital retail stores, and improving employee engagement and education.

Agthia's commitment to sustainability in the region is evident through initiatives aimed at water reduction and carbon footprint reduction. Over the past nine months, the company successfully reduced its water usage ratio by 8.6%. Additional efforts include launching the first locally sourced and produced 100% rPET water bottle, implementing real-time smart energy monitoring systems, and installing solar panels across various sites to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15% over the next three years.

As Agthia embarks on this transformative journey, its strategic alignment with Microsoft and unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability underscore its vision for long-term growth and resilience in the dynamic Middle Eastern market.
