Phosalone can not be used in vegetables, fruit trees and other crops in China

2023-11-24

In the first half of 2023, the Agricultural and Rural Bureau of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps detected a batch of vegetable samples containing Phosalone residues, although the residual amount did not exceed the maximum limit standard stipulated by GB 2763-2021, but the incident shows that there are still some agricultural producers in China using Phosalone on vegetables and other crops.

In addition, some online materials also recommend the use of Phosalone to control tortricid, fruit fly, oriental fruit moth, pentatomid, pear psylla, red spider, and potato aphids and other pests.

Phosalone is a medium toxic organophosphorus insecticide. At present, only two products have been registered in China and are in an effective state, including one 95% technical and one 35% EC. The registered crops and control objects are Bollworms (it is not ruled out that there are illegal production or recitally added Phosalone products in the market are promoted and sold).

According to the relevant provisions of laws and regulations such as Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Law, Regulations on the control of agricultural-chem, and the Regulations on the Prevention and Control of Crop Diseases and Insect Pests, Phosalone cannot be used for unregistered crops such as vegetables and fruit trees in China at present. Once found, the local agricultural and rural departments should be promptly organized to investigate and punish (regardless of whether the residue exceeds the standard, the use is illegal)! Illegal acts of production and operation of Phosalone products without pesticide registration certificate or production license should also be investigated and dealt with!
