Evonik unwraps sustainable baobab oil for natural formulations
In a significant stride towards sustainable beauty solutions, Evonik has introduced Ecohance Soft Baobab, a premium baobab oil ethically sourced from the Sahel region of Ghana. This latest addition to the Ecohance program exemplifies Evonik's commitment to circular solutions in the cosmetics industry.
Ecohance Soft Baobab stands out not only for its exceptional quality but also for its eco-conscious sourcing. In collaboration with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and the Great Green Wall Initiative, Evonik ensures that the baobab oil is responsibly harvested from the resilient baobab trees that thrive in the challenging conditions of the Sahel. These trees play a crucial role in preventing desertification, thriving in poor soil, and enduring heat and drought.
What sets Ecohance Soft Baobab apart is its endorsement by the FairWild Foundation, a certification that evaluates companies and products against 11 principles and 29 criteria, encompassing ecological, social, and economic aspects of sustainable wild collection. The baobab fruits, harvested from the wild, are traceable back to the collector, ensuring transparency and accountability in the supply chain.
Yann d'Hervé, the head of Evonik's Care Solutions business line, emphasized the company's dedication to sustainability and collaboration. He stated, "Sustainability drives us and collaboration defines us! Ecohance Soft Baobab is a perfect example of how we uphold our core values of environmental and social responsibility. We've partnered with strong allies to build a brand-new supply chain, allowing our cosmetic customers to meet the growing demand for sustainable, high-performing natural products."
This launch follows Evonik's recent introduction of Ecohance Care PS3, an emulsifier derived entirely from olive oil residues, and Ecohance Remo XP, an eco-friendly multifunctional thickener. These initiatives underscore Evonik's holistic approach to sustainable beauty solutions, aligning with the industry's increasing focus on environmentally responsible and high-performance natural ingredients.
As the beauty industry navigates the demand for green and ethical products, Ecohance Soft Baobab positions itself as a testament to innovation that harmonizes efficacy with environmental and social responsibility, setting a new standard for natural cosmetic formulations.
