Huizhou 5 million tons/year PTA project will be put into production next year!
This year’s Huizhou government work report proposed to promote the comprehensive construction of a number of major petrochemical projects such as ExxonMobil Huizhou Ethylene Project, CNOOC and Shell Phase III, Hengli Petrochemical (Huizhou) PTA Project, and accelerate the shaping of the advantages of Huizhou petrochemical energy new materials industry cluster. Become one of the important engines for the development of Huizhou this year. Recently, the reporter saw in the Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone that the construction of major projects is in full swing, the construction site is in full swing, and a number of major petrochemical project buildings are rising from the ground.
As a key project in Guangdong Province, the Hengli (Huizhou) PTA project with a total investment of 15 billion yuan has launched the first shot of Huizhou's "14th Five-Year Plan" project. Since the start of construction on January 7 this year, the project construction is progressing in an orderly manner as planned. It is planned to be completed and put into production in the second quarter of 2022, and will achieve annual sales of more than 25 billion yuan by then.
On August 13, 2020, Hengli Petrochemical (Huizhou) PTA project officially signed an investment cooperation agreement; on January 7, 2021, the project officially started construction. Preliminary work such as leveling the project site and submitting for approval and construction was completed in only 4 months.
The project adopts industry-leading green and intelligent production technology
The PTA industry is an important hub linking the two pillar industries of the national economy, petrochemicals and chemical fiber textiles, and is at the core of the industry chain. PTA reacts with upstream petrochemical products such as ethylene glycol produced by ethylene to mainly produce polyester (PET). Polyester can be processed into fibers, films and plastic products, and is widely used in packaging, electronics, medical and health, construction, automobiles and other fields. It is understood that the Hengli Petrochemical (Huizhou) PTA project will adopt industry-leading green and intelligent production technology, which can produce 5 million tons of PTA annually after it is put into production.
According to experts in the petrochemical industry, the Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone has achieved a refining capacity of 22 million tons per year, but the downstream raw material for refining and petrochemical production-naphtha can only be exported to foreign petrochemical companies. After Hengli Petrochemical (Huizhou) PTA project is completed and put into production, millions of tons of naphtha per year in the Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone can be eaten and squeezed out, and converted on-site into upstream raw materials for new material industry manufacturing, which is beneficial to complement Huizhou and even Guangdong. The petrochemical industry chain has shortcomings in the middle and lower reaches, and comprehensively improves the modernization level of the petrochemical energy and new material industry chain, and injects new strong impetus for Huizhou to build a trillion-level petrochemical energy and new material industrial cluster.
Hengli Petrochemical's total production capacity reached 11.6 million tons, ranking first in the world
According to statistics, PTA production capacity will increase by 7.2 million tons in 2020, including Hengli Petrochemical Phase IV and Phase V 5 million tons and Xinfengming Phase II 2.2 million tons. The total domestic production capacity exceeds 60 million tons, an increase of 13.6%. Up to now, Hengli Petrochemical's total production capacity has reached 11.6 million tons, ranking first in the world, followed by Fuhai Chuang, Yisheng, Tongkun and Xinfengming. At the beginning of 2021, Fujian Baihong’s 2.5 million tons of equipment was put into operation first, and Jiangsu Honggang was put into operation on the 3rd. The subsequent phases of Ningbo Yisheng, Jiujiang Tongkun and Xinfengming have plans to start production. , The production capacity may exceed 10 million tons during the year. After 2022, Hengli Huizhou, Xinfengming Phase IV, Jiangsu Tongkun, Guangxi Tongkun new installations will be launched one after another. It is estimated that the total domestic PTA production capacity is expected to exceed 90 million tons by 2025. By then, not only China, but also the global PTA market will face Severe oversupply pressure.
