BASF's TPU Plant Announced to Be Completed and Put into Production!
On 18 January, BASF's Zhanjiang Integrated Base held a celebration for the completion of the first batch of units and the inauguration of the thermoplastic polyurethane unit, announcing that the second unit of the integrated base, the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) unit, was officially put into production.
This is BASF's largest single thermoplastic polyurethane production line in the world, marking the official completion of the first batch of installations in BASF's Zhanjiang Integrated Base Project, the largest single investment project in the history of the BASF Group with a total investment of approximately 10 billion euros.
The event was attended by Dr. Lou Jianfeng, Chairman and President of BASF Greater China, Mr. Lin Hanping, President of BASF's Asia Large Projects, and Dr. Yong Wanting, President of BASF's Global Performance Materials Business Unit. Share and have in-depth exchanges with media and customer representatives at the event.
It is understood that BASF is actively building its new integrated base in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. The base was announced in July 2018 and officially launched in November 2019. It is BASF's largest single investment project to date, with a total investment of approximately 10 billion euros. It will be constructed and operated independently by BASF. After completion, the base will become BASF's third largest production base in the world, behind the Ludwigshafen base in Germany and the Antwerp base in Belgium. BASF's Zhanjiang integrated base is under construction in phases. The first set of equipment was officially announced to be put into operation in September 2022.
The thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) device is the second device put into operation at the Zhanjiang integrated base. It will produce high-performance TPU products for a variety of applications, allowing BASF to better meet the growing market demand for TPU in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in the fields of electric vehicles and new energy.
