French Perfume Brand Ex Nihilo Receives 25 Million Euros Investment from Eurazeo
Niche fragrance brand Ex Nihilo has received a €25 million investment from Paris-based investor Eurazeo to grow its business.
Through the transaction, Eurazeo acquires a minority stake in the French fragrance company and will use its expertise to support Ex Nihilo's expansion into new markets, as well as strengthen its digital capabilities and grow its community.
Ex Nihilo, which means "created out of nothing" in Latin, was founded in 2013 by Sylvie Loday, Olivier Royère and Benoît Verdier to offer a range of fragrances focused on unique ingredients and personalization. Best known for its floral Fleur Narcotique fragrance, other fragrances in its portfolio include Lust in Paradise and My Sweetest Morphine.
The brand is currently sold through retail partners including Harrods, Bergdorf Goodman, Galeries Lafayette and Saks Fifth Avenue, as well as through its own seven flagship stores.
"The partnership between Ex Nihilo and Eurazeo is an organic one, rooted in shared values and a common vision for the future. We recognize Eurazeo's strong commitment to fostering growth and innovation, which aligns perfectly with Ex Nihilo’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of luxury fragrance. " said Loday, Royère and Verdier.
"Our goal is to take the industry to new heights and provide our customers with an unparalleled experience. We are excited about the extraordinary milestones we will achieve together." the co-founders added.
Eurazeo has a long history of investing in beauty brands. The company has previously invested in Pat McGrath Labs, skin care brand Beekman 1802 and honey beauty brand Gisou.
