Clarins and Albéa Tubes Collaborate to Produce Lighter Samples Using Recycled Plastic

ECHEMI 2024-01-23

Clarins is updating its range of sample tubes with EcoLittle Top, Albéa Tubes' latest line of EcoTop products. This new clamshell closure system is adapted to the sample format and addresses the triple corporate social responsibility challenge of weight reduction, recyclability and the use of recycled materials. By removing one component, the EcoLittle Top reduces the weight of the entire tube by 47%.

Thanks to Albéa Tubes' PCR Max range, the tubes are made from 45% recycled material, in line with Clarins and Albéa Tubes' commitment to the circular economy. Therefore, this PCR PE solution combined with EcoLittle Top in HDPE is a single material, making it recyclable in the HDPE stream. The incorporation of recycled plastic reduces the amount of virgin plastic used to produce the pipes.

Isabelle Séry, Sales Director of Albéa Tubes, believes that this innovation is the result of two years of close collaboration between the two teams. Clarins and Albéa Tubes' corporate social responsibility commitment and quality requirements are at the core of product development. EcoLittle Top is a further consolidation of Albéa Tubes' corporate social responsibility roadmap.

Philippe Briand, Director of Packaging Design, Direct Purchasing & Launch Coordination, said, "We look at all our innovations from a sustainability perspective, so it was natural for us to choose Albéa Tubes for our samples. EcoLittle Top will be used across the majority of the Clarins range like skin care and makeup, we are proud of this innovation, which is another step towards a more responsible industry."
