Bioglobal launches phagostimulant of Armyworm

2024-01-22

Bioglobal, on 22 January 2024 in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, launched the new generation of phagostimulant of Armyworm, which is an important milestone product in the phagostimulant series to control pests in a biological and economic way.

The arrival of 2024 heralded the beginning of a new phase for the company's ritasol products for crop protection. Twenty years ago, the company created the first ritasine product designed to attract and kill harmful insects.

From this humble beginning, Bioglobal developed phagostimulant, a commercially sustainable product that has passed rigorous testing and trials. Phagostimulant have been tested in modern agricultural practices around the world and in facility agriculture in developing countries. Now it is time to apply this technology to field crops.

Although designed for use in the field growing market, phagostimulant can also be used in vegetable cash crops and other areas where pesticide use is restricted.

Phagostimulant provides a tool and method to understand the reality of the use of ritasine for pest control. This is in line with Bioglobal’s philosophy of integrating and supporting current pest management and control products. It turns out that phagostimulant is attractive to both male and female lepidoptera moths and can reduce moth populations in current and future generations. Phagostimulant have been shown to be a viable alternative to control resistant pests. The food attractant is simple in design, can be manually sprayed with simple spraying equipment, and can be used on difficult or dangerous terrain.

There is now a wide range of phagostimulant available, including three different products: phagostimulant, phagostimulant of cotton bollworm and phagostimulant  of Armyworm.

Phagostimulant remain the original flagship product, which has provided service for countless years and continues to attract a wide range of pests such as Heliothis and Noctuidae on a wide variety of crops, including soybeans, corn, cotton, wheat, barley and sorghum.

Now, phagostimulant of bollworm is officially a special ritasin formulation for field cotton growing applications. This formula is specially designed for cotton field pests of the Heliothis. The formula has a faster knock down effect and a higher baiting response. The benefits of this formula have been demonstrated in the populations of the Heliothis (including Bt cotton) that have developed resistance under moderate and severe infestation conditions.

Phagostimulant of cotton bollworm have been extensively tested on cotton across China and are currently being evaluated in large-scale trials of more than 2,500 hectares in Brazil and other countries. In addition, further cooperation arrangements have been made for the national sales plan in China.

This formula is not limited to the Heliophora, as it has also been shown to have great appeal to Noctuidae.

Phagostimulant of Armyworm is a new formulation to address the persistent migratory problem of armyworm in mainland Asia. In 2016, Armyworm populations appeared on the African continent and continue to migrate across Central and Southeast Asia. In early 2019, the company began developing a formula specifically for Armyworm. Unfortunately, due to the suspension of research and development work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it can only be restarted in mid-2023.

At present, Bioglobal is satisfied with the research and development work, the results show that the product is still attractive to male and female Armyworm in less than ideal conditions such as low temperatures before overwintering.

The phagostimulant of Armyworm will undergo further independent testing and further development with the expectation of commercial sale worldwide.

Bioglobal is committed to developing ritasol products that support and integrate existing control methods. Phagostimulant is designed for cost-effective application, reducing energy, material and labor costs.
