Nichino America and Sipcam signed another cross-license agreement, which will increase the market share of Fenpyroximate and Buprofezin in the United States

2024-01-25

Nichino America and Sipcam Agro recently announced the signing of their second cross-licensing agreement, following the first signed in September 2023, which aims to further enhance the market for both companies' crop protection products.

Under the terms of the partnership, Nichino granted Sipcam Agro early access to the acaricide/insecticide Fenpyroximate 5SC/5EC, giving Sipcam and its customers access to new products for rapid and efficient control of mites on a wide range of specialty crops, strengthening Sipcam's portfolio.

This follows the first cross-licensing agreement signed between the two companies, under which Nichino will provide Sipcam Agro with early access to the Buprofezin 70 DF/WDG insect growth regulator formulation (Odeza™, Sussex™). These agents can effectively and sustainably control the nymph and creeping stages of some pests.

In exchange, Sipcam Agro granted Nichino the distribution rights for the fungicide Eject®, enabling it to sell the product in the Arizona market. This strategic alliance strengthens Nichino's product portfolio with a highly effective downy fungicide that can be used on a variety of major vegetable crops, while providing Arizona fruit and vegetable growers with a new tool to combat downy mildew.

According to the parties, these two agreements can effectively unlock the potential of Eject® fungicide and expand the distribution of the Fenpyroximate and Buprofezin family of products in the United States to further increase the market share of the active ingredient, demonstrating not only their commitment to improve agricultural productivity, but also the profound impact of the strategic partnership on driving industry development.
