Hair and Scalp Care Brand Jupiter Secures $3M in New Funding
Hair and scalp care brand Jupiter has raised $3 million in a seed round from investors Willow Growth Ventures, Springdale Ventures and SWAT Equity Partners. The new funds will be earmarked for retail expansion, product development and team building.
Founded in 2020 by Robbie Salter and Ross Goodhart, Jupiter offers products designed to improve scalp health and scalp discomfort. The collection includes six products ranging from $15 to $40: a balancing shampoo, a nourishing conditioner, a repairing serum, a purifying mask, a scalp brush and essential daily scalp supplements for thinning hair. The brand is currently sold at Bergdorf Goodman and dermatology clinics.
Amanda Schutzbank, partner and co-founder of Willow Growth Partners, said, "Historically, the scalp discomfort category has been synonymous with dusty old dandruff products. Those products have had their own associations like being made only for men. It's no surprise that women have been starved for modern solutions that are not only functional, but won't mess up a color or chemical treatment.”
According to the brand, sales increased by 115% from 2022 to 2023, with a return rate of less than 1% and a 12-month repeat purchase rate of up to 40%. Jupiter is a member of the 2022 Target Takeoff accelerator program. Previously, Jupiter received funding in three phases: a previous round in 2019, and additional rounds in 2021 and 2022, investors included Sugar Capital and Vanterra Capital.
