Takeda Announces Notable Personnel Changes in the Oncology and Finance Departments
Takeda announced on January 29th that Phuong Khanh Morrow has been appointed as the new Head of the Oncology Treatment Division. Prior to this role, Morrow served as the Chief Medical Officer and Head of Clinical Development and Regulatory Affairs at CRISPR Therapeutics. With over a decade of experience in global drug development leadership, Morrow brings a wealth of expertise in oncology and hematology treatments. She holds a medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School and has previously held various leadership positions at Amgen. Morrow also served as an industry representative on the FDA's Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee (ODAC) for a four-year term. This recent appointment highlights Takeda's commitment to advancing cancer therapies under Morrow's leadership.
In addition to the oncology department change, Takeda also announced the upcoming transition in its finance department. Costa Saroukos, the current Chief Financial Officer, will step down from his position on April 1st. Milano Furuta, President of Takeda's Pharmaceutical Business Unit in Japan, will succeed Saroukos as the Chief Financial Officer. Saroukos, who joined Takeda in 2015, has played a crucial role in the company's financial operations and strategic decision-making. His experience in banking, private equity investments, and equity analysis has contributed to Takeda's financial success over the years.
Furthermore, Takeda recently released its financial report for the third quarter of the 2023 fiscal year, ending on December 31st, 2023. The company reported a core operating profit of 865.6 billion Japanese yen and a net profit of 105.7 billion Japanese yen for the third quarter. The total global revenue for the first three quarters of the fiscal year reached 3.21 trillion Japanese yen. Takeda projects that its full-year revenue for the 2023 fiscal year will reach 3.9 trillion Japanese yen, showcasing the company's strong financial performance and growth.
Takeda's recent personnel changes, including the appointment of Phuong Khanh Morrow as the Head of the Oncology Treatment Division and the upcoming transition in the Chief Financial Officer position from Costa Saroukos to Milano Furuta, demonstrate the company's commitment to advancing its oncology therapies and ensuring financial stability. These developments position Takeda for continued growth and success in the pharmaceutical industry.
