Mitsui and Kansai Paint to fund Kansai Helios acquisition of WEILBURGER
Mitsui and Kansai Paint decided to invest in Kansai Helios, a European paint and coatings manufacturer, with Mitsui and Kansai Paint holding 20% and 80% shares respectively.
The investment is intended to fund Kansai Helios’ acquisition of WEILBURGER Coatings and Hong Kong-based WEILBURGER Asia, which manufactures and sells industrial coatings.
WEILBURGER is a coatings manufacturer that provides non-stick coatings for cookware and appliances, as well as heat-resistant coatings and railroad coatings, with operations in Germany, Italy, France, Turkey, Brazil, India, China and the United States. With consolidated sales expected to be approximately €150 million in fiscal 2023, it has established a strong position in the industrial coatings market.
Kansai Helios offers a wide range of coating products for rolling stock, agricultural and construction machinery, and metal products, and has expanded its operations throughout Europe, including Austria, Slovenia, Germany and France. The acquisition of WEILBURGER will further strengthen its presence in Europe and will also expand its reach into growth markets outside Europe.
Kansai Helios has recently implemented its growth strategy and executed multiple asset and business acquisitions through close collaboration with Kansai Paint and Mitsui. Mitsui will continue to support the further development of Kansai Helios. Mitsui leverages its global business base and network, as well as extensive industry and regional expertise, to consolidate its profit base in the coatings business.
