Bayer and AgPlenus jointly develop new targeted herbicides
AgPlenus, a subsidiary of Israeli biotechnology company Evogene, announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with Bayer to jointly develop new sustainable herbicide products.
Through the collaboration, AgPlenus will use its ChemPass AI technology platform to identify herbicide molecules that act in a new way (targeting the APTH1 protein), and Bayer will be responsible for optimizing the testing of this molecule to develop commercialized products. Under the agreement, AgPlenus is entitled to an upfront payment, ongoing research funding and royalties based on future product sales, and Bayer will have an exclusive license to develop and commercialize the co-developed products.
Combining AgPlenus' expertise with Bayer's CropKey innovative approach to crop protection will help accelerate the delivery of sustainable and economical solutions to farmers and set new benchmarks in the industry.
