Bryat Plant Oil Factory to Supply Canola and Flaxseed Processed Products to China
In a recent development, Bryat Plant Oil Factory, the first fully integrated vegetable oil facility in Bryat Republic, opened in the outskirts of Ulan-Ude on March 22nd. The factory aims to provide China with a steady supply of canola and flaxseed processed products. This move is expected to strengthen the trade relations between Russia and China in the agricultural sector.
Bryat Plant Oil Factory, located in the Bryat Republic of Russia, has commenced operations with the goal of catering to the Chinese market's demand for canola and flaxseed processed products. The inaugural ceremony of the factory was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Bryat Republic, Galsan Daryev, along with Chinese investors.
With an initial investment exceeding 200 million rubles (approximately 15.36 million RMB), the factory possesses the capacity to process 100 tons of flaxseed and canola seeds per day. By the end of 2025, the factory plans to expand its operations in the second phase, aiming to process 300 tons of seeds daily. It is estimated that the total investment for the entire project will amount to approximately 900 million rubles (around 70 million RMB).
The processed products, including canola seed oil, flaxseed oil, and other derivatives from these oilseed crops, will be exported to China. This initiative marks the first-time cultivation of canola and flaxseed on a planting area of 3,200 hectares in Bryat Republic. The factory is prepared to repurchase the entire harvest from local farmers.
In January 2023, Russia's agricultural exports to China witnessed a significant surge, with China emerging as the largest buyer of Russian canola seed oil, accounting for 86% of the total export volume. In the same year, Russia exported 1.7 million tons of canola seed oil, reflecting a growth of 72% compared to the previous year, and a 20% increase in export value.
Canola seed oil is highly regarded for its nutritional benefits, as it contains essential amino acids such as linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid, which are vital for the human body. Additionally, canola seed oil is rich in vitamins E and A, along with antioxidants.
The establishment of Bryat Plant Oil Factory signifies a remarkable milestone in the agricultural trade between Russia and China. It is expected to not only meet the growing demand for canola and flaxseed processed products in China but also foster bilateral cooperation and economic ties between the two nations.
Bryat Plant Oil Factory's initiative to supply canola and flaxseed processed products to China marks a significant step in strengthening agricultural trade between Russia and China.
