LANXESS launches new sustainable ion exchange resin for water softening

LANXESS adds Lewatit S 1567 Scopeblue to its portfolio of sustainably produced ion exchange resins. The specialty chemicals company's highly acidic cation exchange resins, produced in a solvent-free process, are used to soften drinking water in industrial plants and in standard household filters. Lewatit S 1567 Scopeblue is characterized by its high resistance to disinfectants.

LANXESS uses the Scopeblue label for particularly sustainable products. The monomer used in Lewatit S 1567 Scopeblue is styrene, derived from a renewable or waste-based feedstock, namely tall oil fatty acids. This enables the replacement of more than 90% of fossil raw materials and reduces the CO2 footprint by up to 76% compared to conventionally produced resins.
