Shin-Etsu Chemical will build a new factory for silicone products in China

Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. has decided to establish a new company, Shin-Etsu Silicone (Pinghu) Co., Ltd., in Zhejiang Province, China, and build a new silicone products factory to expand its silicone business.

The new factory will be built in Dushangang Economic Development Zone, Pinghu City, Zhejiang Province, about 85 kilometers away from Shanghai. The site covers an area of 40,000 square meters (of which 20,000 square meters are planned for future expansion), which is twice the area of the existing factory. In addition to the existing general-purpose silicone emulsion products, the new factory will also produce functional silicone emulsions, environmentally friendly silicone products and other high-functional products, and is scheduled to be completed in February 2026. The total investment is expected to reach approximately 210 million yen, including the land cost of the project.

In order to meet the demand for silicone products in the Chinese market, Shin-Etsu Chemical established Zhejiang Shin-Etsu High-tech Chemical Co., Ltd. in Zhejiang Province, China in 2002. It began producing silicone products in 2003 and has maintained a stable supply to meet the needs of customers and the market.

Meanwhile, Zhejiang Shin-Etsu has long been considering increasing production capacity, expanding product lines, and updating factories and facilities to cope with China's expanding demand. Therefore, Zhejiang Shin-Etsu decided to purchase land and build a new factory in Zhejiang Province. The production functions performed by Zhejiang Shin-Etsu's existing factories will also be transferred to the new factory.
