Huntsman Opens New Innovation Center in Belgium
Huntsman Group has officially opened a new Innovation Center in Tienen, Belgium, to enhance its R&D capabilities and strengthen its commitment to customers in the region.
The new 11,000 square meter facility includes a world-class analytical laboratory, two machine shops, and fully equipped automated product testing facilities. Together, these assets enhance Huntsman’s ability to complete the entire product innovation process, from initial ideas at lab scale to manufacturing new systems and samples ready for customer trials.
With more than 100 scientists from the company’s polyurethanes and performance products businesses, the Innovation Center will support the application of Huntsman technologies in key markets including adhesives, coatings and sealants; automotive; elastomers; energy; furniture and bedding, and insulation.
The inauguration was attended by more than 100 customers, suppliers, the mayor of Tienen, and business partners, with speeches by Peter Huntsman, Huntsman Chairman and CEO, and Tony Hankins, president of Huntsman’s polyurethanes business. The ceremony also included a tour of the facility and live R&D demonstrations, as well as a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Huntsman said: "Today we mark a significant milestone as we officially open our new European Innovation Center, which is dedicated to creativity, collaboration and progress. We already have a rich tradition of innovation in Belgium. This center reflects our ongoing commitment to exploring new ideas and turning imaginative concepts into practical solutions that can have a positive impact on the world."
Hankins further commented: "Our Tienen site, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and home to some of the world's best scientists, is a place where innovation thrives and where we can find new and meaningful ways for our chemicals to address future sustainability challenges."
