US Peanut Exports Exceed Aflatoxin Limits, Raising Global Food Safety Concerns
The European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) recently reported a concerning issue: the Netherlands has notified the system of a batch of peanuts imported from the United States that exceeded the maximum limit for aflatoxin B1. This event has not only attracted widespread attention in the global food safety community, but also once again highlights the importance of strictly implementing food safety regulations in the agricultural export process.
According to reports, on June 24, 2024, the Netherlands reported this issue through the RASFF system. Based on the test results, the aflatoxin B1 content in a batch of peanuts imported from the United States was as high as 6.4 μg/kg, while the European Union's maximum limit for aflatoxin B1 in food is 2.0 μg/kg. This batch of peanuts clearly exceeded the standard.
