Sluggish growth forecast for bleach precursor market

The growth in the global Bleach precursor market is anticipated to remain sluggish, with demand expanding at 1.4% CAGR in terms of volume during the period from 2018 to 2027, according to a market analysis by Fact.MR. The market is estimated at around 102,000-tonnes in terms of volume by the end of 2018.
One of the key factors hampering growth is the shift in consumer demand towards bleach-free liquid detergents that offer advantages like being completely water-soluble, no accumulation on fabrics and lower risk of allergic reactions. The bleach precursor market is also facing tough competition from alternative products acting as bleach substitutes. Bleach alternatives such as Oxygen-based bleach and Hydrogen Peroxide are used by manufacturers to produce eco-friendly detergent products.
TEAD to take lion’s share in market
Bleach precursor reacts in the wash to form bleach and helps in boosting the performance of detergents. The detergent made using bleach precursor is effective in the regions with low temperatures. The demand for highly concentrated detergent powder is growing, hence, the use of tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED), a type of bleach precursor, has also increased.
In detergents, TAED produces peracetic acid, a powerful stain remover for oxidizable stains, also killing bacteria, spores, and viruses.
According to the report, TAED is expected to surpass 80,000-tonnes in terms of volume by 2018 end. TEAD is largely used in combination with hydrogen peroxide releasing bleaching agents.
Laundry detergent industry is expected to account for nearly 75% of market share in terms of volume by the end of 2018, according to the study.
