EFSA Conducts Peer Review on Preliminary Risk Assessment of Pesticide Active Substance Lenacil

ECHEMI 2024-07-15

According to the formal statement issued by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the agency conducted a peer review on the preliminary risk assessment of the pesticide active substance lenacil on July 5, 2024. This review was based on the preliminary risk assessment carried out by the rapporteur Member State Belgium and the co-rapporteur Member State Austria, in order to meet the requirements of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 844/2012 and its amendment (EU) No 2018/1659.

Through the assessment of the representative uses of lenacil as a herbicide on sugar beet for sugar production and on sugar beet for feed, EFSA has proposed reliable endpoints applicable for the regulatory risk assessment and identified the missing information required by the regulatory framework. Any issues identified during the review process will be reported in a timely manner.
