FMC launches prophylactic insecticide Mustang 20 EW (Z-Cypermethrin) in Argentina
FMC recently launched the insecticide Mustang 20 EW in Argentina with the active ingredient Z-cypermethrin. Mustang 20 EW is a pyrethroid insecticide used to control hemiptera and lepidoptera insects in the early stages of soybean, cotton, sunflower and corn, and is the only product registered as an insect in the market in the country.
Archer Plus。Mustang 20 EW works through exposure and ingestion and is specifically applied to established crops during fallow, pre-sowing or with water as a carrier. Its innovative and unique EW formula is extremely soluble, allowing residues to penetrate the pest site. The company says the insecticide is an essential tool for preventing insects from having a significant negative impact on crops, and its portfolio also includes Archer Plus, a new generation of microencapsulated pyrethroids.
In Argentina, an average of one in five maize plants is lost to soil pests, with a potential yield loss of 20%, which is prohibitively expensive compared to the input costs of preventive application of insecticides. FMC stresses the importance of controlling soil pest communities, mainly composed of beetles and lepidoptera larvae and bug beetles, which can be extremely damaging to crop growth and development, resulting in significant reductions in yield and quality.
With offices in Buenos Aires, FMC Argentina leads operations throughout the Southern Cone region of South America, including Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia.
