-Used in the production of alumina products.

Alumina trihydrate uses as a flame retardant

Its flame retardant mechanism can be roughly summarized as follows:

(1) Endothermic effect. Dehydration absorbs heat at 200-350℃, inhibiting the temperature rise of the polymer;

(2) Dilution effect. Al(OH)3 filling reduces the concentration of combustible polymers. The water vapor released by Al(OH)3 dehydration dilutes the concentration of combustible gases and oxygen, which can prevent combustion;

(3) Covering effect. After Al(OH)3 is dehydrated, an Al2O3 protective film is generated on the surface of the combustible material, isolating oxygen and preventing further combustion;

(4) Carbonization effect. Alumina trihydrate produces strong dehydrating substances under combustion conditions, which carbonizes the plastic and is not easy to produce combustible volatiles, thereby preventing the spread of flames.

 

Advantages of alumina trihydrate flame retardant

Although bromine flame retardants in organic flame retardants have the advantages of high flame retardant efficiency, low addition amount, and wide application range, in order to comply with the development trend of high flame retardancy, low smoke, and harmlessness in the flame retardant market, the development and utilization of inorganic flame retardants have gradually received more support.
