ECHEMI 2024-08-30

According to the latest report in the Federal Register, on August 29, 2024, the EPA officially issued a major regulation number 2024-19456. This regulation details the residual limit exemption for lactic acid and L-lactic acid in certain circumstances. Specifically, when L-lactic acid is used as a detergent for fruits and vegetables, and is applied to all unprocessed agricultural products, the residue limit will be completely exempted. This regulation marks an important step forward for the EPA in food safety and environmental protection.

The regulations come into effect on August 29, 2024, meaning that from now on, all relevant businesses and individuals must comply with this new regulation. In order to ensure transparency and the public's right to know, the EPA also specified that any individual or organization that has objections to the regulation or wishes to file a request for a hearing must submit written submissions to the appropriate authorities by October 28, 2024. This deadline is designed to ensure that all stakeholders have sufficient time to express their views and concerns.
