Air traffic is shut down, imports are blocked, and the coating industry chain is greatly affected
In response to the overseas epidemic, many countries have blocked cities and suspended flights. This not only has a greater impact on the survival and health of people around the world, but also has a huge impact on the chemical industry.
Many high-end chemical raw materials in China have been imported for a long time. According to rough statistics, nearly 100 kinds of raw materials are imported from overseas. Among them, PX products, methanol, ethylene glycol, styrene, propylene, ethylene, pure benzene and other products will import more than 1 million tons in 2020. According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, among the key basic chemical materials, 32% of the varieties in my country are still blank, and 52% are still dependent on imports. Such as high-end electronic chemicals, high-end functional materials, high-end polyolefins, etc., it is difficult to meet the needs of the economy and people's livelihood.
There are many well-known chemical companies in overseas countries and the EU, such as specialty chemicals companies Lanxess, Solvay, Rhodia, resin companies DSM and Arkema, polyethylene and polypropylene companies Borealis, and adhesive technology Companies Henkel, silicone company Wacker Chemie, titanium dioxide company Connors, etc. The current price and supply of the coatings industry are closely related to the market conditions of upstream raw materials. Today, the overseas epidemic situation is severe, and the shortage of raw materials may be difficult to improve. It will be a high probability event that prices continue to soar.
