Bilfinger Signs Major Contract with Egyptian Chemical Industries

Bilfinger is expanding its presence in Egypt by signing a substantial Project Management and Consultancy (PMC) contract with Egyptian Chemical Industries (KIMA).

KIMA aims to install a new chemical and fertilizer plant within its existing facility in the city of Aswan. The new plant is expected to produce 600 tons of nitric acid per day, significantly increasing its local production capacity.

Abdel Meguid Heguazi, CEO of KIMA, said: "As a global exporter of chemical products, this new plant is essential to increase our production capacity in Aswan. By the end of 2027, it will enable us to produce 800 tons of fertilizer-quality granulated ammonium nitrate per day and deliver it to customers locally and around the world. We are confident that Bilfinger will be the perfect solutions partner to represent us throughout the project phases and ensure we achieve our goals most efficiently."

Bilfinger Middle East has deployed a team of professional engineers to provide independent design review and site supervision services, ensuring that the consortium of third-party contractors meets KIMA's high standards. As PMC contractor, Bilfinger will oversee all engineering, procurement and construction phases, including pre-commissioning, commissioning and performance testing.

The partnership is an important milestone for Bilfinger Middle East in expanding its presence in Egypt. KIMA, a state-owned nitrogen fertilizer and chemicals producer with nearly 70 years of history, aims to increase its production capacity through a $300 million (€269 million) project. KIMA is listed among Egypt's top 50 companies in 2024.
