1. Nad supplement benefits to healthy aging
One of the most prominent roles of NAD is to slow the aging process and prevent related diseases. David Sinclair, a geneticist at Harvard University, said that increasing the amount of NAD in the blood and cells may help slow the aging process.
NAD seems to slow aging through two mechanisms: First, we know that as we age, our telomeres get shorter. Telomeres are repetitive DNA coding sequences at the ends of chromosomes, similar to the plastic ends of shoelaces. Preventing the shortening of telomeres may help slow the aging process. Every time a cell replicates, part of the telomere is lost, and the cell gradually ages and dies in the terminal stage. Other studies have shown that NAD can stabilize the ends of chromosome telomeres, which may help prevent telomere shortening.
Second, NAD seems to promote the activity of Sirtuin enzymes. This is a class III protein deacetylase that is NAD-dependent and may help regulate cell health. According to research, once Sirtuin enzyme activity is triggered, the aging process may be delayed. Scientists are still studying this new topic to understand its potential mechanisms in more detail.

Multiple medical trials have shown that NAD may optimize learning curves and consolidate memory. NAD helps repair damaged DNA in the brain and other nerve cells. NAD may also activate certain specific proteins to protect the brain from oxidative damage. It should be noted that chronic damage to DNA and nerve cells increases the risk of diseases such as dementia, Parkinson's disease, and Lewy body dementia.

Specifically, a 2018 study found that NAD may repair blood vessel elasticity and prevent damage to the endothelium (artery walls) that could otherwise trigger artery blockages. The study also found that NAD may promote the growth of new blood vessels in the skeletal muscle of older mice. Results showed that older mice given NAD had endurance comparable to that of younger mice.
Because NAD levels naturally decline with age, researchers speculate that supplementing with NAD could improve symptoms of age-related diseases and metabolic disorders, promote muscle recovery, and more.
In addition, NAD may help regulate blood flow and appears to play a positive role in congestive heart failure.
4. Nad supplement benefits to optimizing blood sugar
Insulin resistance and pre-diabetes are common signs of aging, which is why diabetes is very common in the elderly. A proper diet also plays an important role. The good news is that several studies have confirmed that NAD may have a regulatory effect on insulin sensitivity. The sooner you consciously adjust your healthy lifestyle, the more likely you are to prevent the development of harmful diseases such as diabetes. For example, oral NAD may have a beneficial effect on controlling blood sugar in mice with diabetes.
In addition, in one study, the benefits of taking 250 mg of NAD supplements daily for 10 days in menopausal women were analyzed. All subjects in this study were overweight and had prediabetes. The results showed that subjects who took NAD supplements may have significantly improved insulin sensitivity. No similar effects were observed in the control group. This finding may be significant because people with insulin resistance and/or prediabetes account for as much as one-third of the world's population.
