AkzoNobel Launches Revolutionary Ultra-Durable Low-Temperature Powder Coating, Saving 20% Energy and Reducing Carbon Emissions!
Akzonobel has officially launched an innovative ultra-durable low-temperature powder coating product to provide customers in the construction industry with better surface protection solutions. The product range, Interpon D2525 Low-E, is particularly suitable for building surfaces that are exposed to harsh climatic conditions and has been carefully designed for the more challenging environmental requirements.
Following the launch of standard durability products in 2023, Akzonobel has once again overcome technical hurdles to develop this ultra-durable low-temperature powder coating. The product has received Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification, which demonstrates Akzonobel's commitment to sustainability.
Bob Dirks, Global Construction sector Manager for Akzonobel's Powder Coatings business, said: "This latest innovation reflects our deep listening to our customers' needs and our commitment to offering them products with multiple benefits. The Interpon D2525 Low-E series not only offers longer durability and lower curing temperatures, but also maintains outstanding aesthetic results. In addition, it demonstrates our collective responsibility for sustainable development and our strong will to implement sustainability commitments in our value chain."
The Interpon D2525 Low-E series is unique in its flexible curing options. Customers can choose to cure at lower temperatures (150°C compared to conventional curing temperatures of 180°C to 200°C), thereby reducing energy consumption by up to 20%. Another option is to reduce the curing time at the same temperature by up to 25%, which means that more products can be painted in less time, significantly increasing the production efficiency of the coating line. Both options will help customers reduce their carbon emissions, while also supporting Akzonobel's ambitious goal of reducing value chain carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.
The Interpon D2525 Low-E series is suitable for a wide range of architectural and industrial metal surfaces, whether outdoor or indoor, such as external walls, Windows, pergolas, fences, handrails, metal office equipment and doors. Key features of this range include excellent durability, which effectively protects the color integrity and performance of the coating.
