Post-Holiday Petrocoke Market Prices Rise

ECHEMI 2026-02-27

February 26 News

According to the commodity analysis system, after the Spring Festival, the market price of petcoke from local refineries in Shandong as of February 26 was 2,685.75 CNY/ton, an increase of 2.56% from 2,618.25 CNY/ton on February 23.

During the Spring Festival, international crude oil prices rose, mainly due to the dual influence of geopolitical tensions and fundamental changes, with the escalation of U.S.-Iran relations becoming the core driving factor. After the holiday, the market focused on the prospects of U.S.-Iran talks. The Iranian side expressed hope to reach a fair agreement with the U.S. in the shortest time possible, easing concerns, leading to a decline in international oil prices.

After the holiday, the overall market for petroleum coke from local refineries in China has risen. Refineries have been shipping goods well, and the prices of petroleum coke from refineries have shown both increases and decreases, with some refineries adjusting their specifications, leading to changes in coke prices according to these adjustments. Downstream buyers have been purchasing actively, with some companies restocking after the holiday, which has supported the petroleum coke market. A large amount of petroleum coke arrived at ports during the Spring Festival holiday and was stored, causing an increase in port inventories, while the market trading atmosphere remains active.

After the holiday, the market for medium and high sulfur calcined coke in China remained stable, with most companies executing contracts, and the prices of medium and high sulfur calcined coke mainly stayed steady.

Outlook: Currently, the trading of petroleum coke from local refineries in China is going well, with downstream enterprises actively purchasing, which supports the petroleum coke market. It is expected that the price of petroleum coke may slightly increase in the near future.
