Avient announces to increase production capacity of TPU for catheter materials at Jiangsu plant, China
On September 25, Avient, a provider of professional and sustainable material solutions, announced that it will expand its NEU™ customization capabilities and NEUSoft™ thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) production for catheter applications at its Suzhou plant in China.
Matt Mitchell, global marketing director of Avient Specialty Engineered Materials, said: "By expanding NEU customization capabilities and NEUSoft TPU production in China, we are strengthening our commitment to meet the growing demand for related materials from healthcare and medical device customers in China and the Asia-Pacific region. The expansion decision shortens response time, promotes closer cooperation with customers, and enables us to provide customized solutions to meet specific needs."
For 35 years, Avient's NEU business has been providing catheter material solutions to the healthcare industry. NEUSoft TPU is an ultra-low hardness formulation designed for short-term in vivo catheter applications, such as cardiovascular, intravenous and specialty devices. These materials have high elasticity, abrasion and tear resistance, UV stability, moisture and oxygen resistance, and are biocompatible according to ISO 10993 and USP Class VI standards. They can be customized with radio-opaque agents, colors, and other additives to suit specific applications, and can be overmolded onto a variety of substrates such as thermoplastic polyurethane and nylon, enabling the manufacture of complex medical devices.
Avient's Suzhou facility is ISO 13485 certified, ensuring compliance with top medical device manufacturing standards. The facility has a constant temperature environment, optimized operating processes to ensure product consistency, and a dedicated production room.
Avient provides professional and sustainable material solutions to promote the development of innovative products to create a better future. Avient's Dyneema fiber provides unparalleled performance and protection in applications such as ballistic personal protection, marine and sustainable infrastructure, and outdoor sports. Avient's unique technology improves the recyclability of its products and incorporates recycled materials, promoting a more circular economy. The company's lightweight solutions replace heavier materials such as metal, glass, and wood, improving fuel efficiency and reducing carbon footprint for all modes of transportation. Avient also provides sustainable infrastructure solutions to improve energy efficiency, support renewable energy, protect natural resources, and enhance accessibility to fiber and 5G networks.
