Prisma Colour acquires Silvergate Plastics, strengthening UK presence
Prisma Colour has acquired Wrexham-based Silvergate Plastics, becoming the UK’s largest independent manufacturer of thermoplastic masterbatches, with a total processing capacity of over 30,000 tonnes.
By combining, both companies have expanded their respective capabilities and increased their ability to offer a wider range of high-quality products and services to all customers, while maintaining the same exceptional responsiveness.
Dominic Philpot, Group Managing Director of Prisma Colour, said: “Combining the expertise, market knowledge and processing skills of both companies will indeed bring huge benefits to our entire customer base. We will continue to fully operate both sites and maintain the excellent quality and excellent customer service that both companies are known for, so there will be no disruption to our customers. This obviously means that our employees will also be taken care of and retained.”
He further stated: “Merging with an already excellent company like Silvergate, expanding and sharing human, financial and equipment resources, provides greater opportunities to support customer growth and innovate in a timely manner to provide a wider range of products.”
Silvergate Plastics was originally established in 1984 and later became part of the Vita Group before becoming independent again following a management buyout in 2008. With over 100,000 custom products, Silvergate is known for its fast response and excellent customer service.
Tony Bestall, who led the management buyout in 2008, said: "It has been a real pleasure to own Silvergate with my shareholders for the past 16 years. It is very exciting for both companies to see it now join forces with Prisma Colour. The combined operation will be a driving force in the industry, offering an unrivalled product portfolio and the best customer service ever seen in the industry. I very much look forward to seeing it develop!"
Prisma Colour was founded in 1991 and has remained independent and owned by the same family, supplying colour and additive concentrates to the rubber, plastics and related industries. During this time the Prisma Group has built an enviable reputation for pigment dispersion expertise and expertise in processing a wide range of substrates and media. They have the most comprehensive and broadest product portfolio of any colour and additive concentrate manufacturer, with a team highly skilled in colour and additive packaging, providing the market with all-in-one solutions for a wide range of media/substrate end-use needs.
