Hallstar acquires Sytheon, expanding its active ingredient portfolio

ECHEMI 2024-11-06

Hallstar, a global specialty chemicals company, announced the acquisition of Sytheon, Ltd., whose active ingredients, including flagship products such as Sytenol® A, the purest form of bakuchiol on the market, will form a new product line for Hallstar's Beauty Division. Bakuchiol is recognized as the safest and most effective natural retinol alternative.

Like Hallstar, Sytheon has a global presence, vibrant R&D capabilities, and strong relationships with the world's top brands. Both companies sell products through direct sales and distribution.

Carmen B. Masciantonio, President and COO of Hallstar, said, "Both Sytheon and Hallstar share an innovation-focused, research-first strategic model and an agile, asset-light approach to operations. These are core principles that underpin our companies' year-over-year success. In addition, Sytheon's unique high-performance products and capabilities are a great fit with our ingredient portfolio. Hallstar Beauty is eager to work with these new commercial and technical colleagues."

Sytheon CEO and President Dr. Ratan K. Chaudhuri and COO François Marchio are also gearing up for a productive collaboration between the experienced teams. According to Chaudhuri and Marchio, "The decision to join Hallstar was a deliberate one. The ultimate goal was to find a partner that could not only grow our global revenue, but also develop our talent. We have long admired Hallstar - its innovation, strong leadership and long-term vision. The Hallstar team recognizes the quality and potential of our ingredients. We have high confidence that becoming part of Hallstar Beauty will drive future growth and increase our penetration to existing and future customers."

"It is always gratifying to have new colleagues and complementary expertise join our company, but I believe Sytheon and Hallstar have an especially strong affinity as ethical, important players in the industry. Together we can do great things for our customers and, more importantly, for our employees around the world," said John J. Paro, Chairman and CEO of Hallstar.
