AstraZeneca Leadership Shake-Up: Leon Wang Out, Meng Yihua Takes Over, Major Changes to Company Ownership Structure!
According to the results of the National Enterprise Credit Information Disclosure System, Astrazeneca's legal representative, responsible person, chief representative and executive of partnership affairs have been changed. Specifically, the original head, Wang Lei, has been removed from these roles and replaced by a new head named MAQDOSI EWA, also known as Meng Yihua. The effective date of this change is October 11, 2024.
Meng Yihua holds the position of vice president of the Wuxi supply base of Astrazeneca and was a director of the company. On October 13, 2024, his position changed further, from Director to Director and Managing Director. This change in position further solidifies his leadership position in the company.
At the same time, the type of market entity of the company has also undergone important changes. The original market entity type is limited liability company (Sino-foreign cooperation), and now it has been changed to limited liability company (foreign sole legal person). This change means that the company's ownership structure and operating model have undergone major adjustments.
On the shareholder side, state capital has exited Astrazeneca. The original investors included Wuxi Xinfa Group Co., LTD., Wuxi Pharmaceutical Co., LTD., Jiangsu Province, and Astrazeneca, but now Astrazeneca is wholly owned. This means that Wuxi Xinfa Group Co LTD and Wuxi Pharmaceutical Co LTD in Jiangsu Province no longer hold shares in Astrazeneca, leaving Astrazeneca as the sole shareholder of the company.
After this series of changes, Astrazeneca's global website and China's official website released a news on October 30 that Astrazeneca's global Executive Vice President, Chairman of international business and President of China Wang Lei is currently in China to cooperate with the relevant investigation. The news raises further concerns about Astrazeneca and its business in China.
