Nouryon completes expansion of plant in Ningbo, China! Organic peroxide capacity doubled!

ECHEMI 2024-11-13

Nouryon, a Dutch specialty chemicals producer, has completed the expansion of its organic peroxide capacity at its Ningbo manufacturing plant. The expansion doubles capacity to 6,000 tons of each organic peroxide product, sold under the Perkadox 14 and Trigonox 101 brands.

These products are used to modify polymer properties, cross-linked rubbers and thermoplastics, also be used to enhance the properties of recycled polypropylene (R-PP), enabling recycled plastics to be used in applications that previously only virgin plastics could be used.

“Nouryon is a global leader in key ingredients for the polymer industry and this expansion demonstrates our commitment to supporting our customers’ growth throughout the polymer lifecycle,” said Alain Rynwalt, Senior Vice President of Performance Materials at Nouryon. “Customer interest in improved properties of recycled polypropylene continues to grow as consumer awareness grows and regulations become more stringent.”

“Asia Pacific is a key region for Nouryon and our recent expansion in China further strengthens our supply position,” said Sobers Sethi, Senior Vice President of Emerging Markets and China at Nouryon.

This is the latest in a series of investments Nouryon has made to strengthen its production network for key raw materials for the polymer industry in China. In 2021, the company announced several investments, including a new organic peroxide production line at its new facility in Tianjin, and a new tert-Butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) and tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) production facility in Ningbo.

In the Asia Pacific region, Nouryon produces organic peroxides in Ningbo and Tianjin, China, Asa, Japan, and Mahad, India.
