Technip Energies wins major TotalEnergies contract
Technip Energies, in partnership with SBM Offshore, has been awarded a major contract by TotalEnergies to build and install the GranMorgu floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel in Suriname, France. The companies announced the joint venture on November 14.
The GranMorgu FPSO project, valued at over €1 billion, is Suriname’s first FPSO development and is located in Block 58, approximately 150 km off the coast of Suriname.
Leveraging the expertise of both companies, the joint venture aims to build an innovative FPSO designed to minimize greenhouse gas emissions. The project will feature an all-electric drive configuration, eliminating conventional flaring and ensuring complete re-injection of associated gas into the reservoir.
In addition, the FPSO will incorporate optimized electricity usage, a waste heat recovery unit and optimized water cooling for increased efficiency. An integrated methane detection and monitoring system utilizing a network of sensors will be installed to further reduce environmental impact.
Marco Villa, Chief Commercial Officer of Technip Energies, expressed his delight at the contract, saying: "We are delighted to have been selected by TotalEnergies for the GranMorgu FPSO project in Suriname, together with our partner SBM Offshore. We will use our modular expertise to design the topside of this all-electric FPSO and oversee the fabrication process together with our partners. This contract highlights Technip Energies' proven ability to integrate technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in various industrial facilities."
This collaboration between Technip Energies and SBM Offshore highlights their commitment to sustainable energy solutions and their ability to provide cutting-edge technologies to the offshore industry.
